On the suggestion of Baroda’s Ranji player Pinal Shah, who lives in the Bhatia’s neighbourhood, Yastika’s father enrolled 8-year-old Yastika and her 11-year-old elder sister Josita at the Youth Service Centre (YSC), one of the oldest clubs in Vadodara. Bhatia sisters played for the Baroda U-19 team together but later on, Josita decided to pursue a career in medicine. 2

Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) sacked Atul Bedade as the women’s team coach. Although his suspension was later withdrawn but considering the sensitivity of the matter it was decided not to engage his services for the women’s team. 3
During the covid-19 pandemic, Yastika’s father with fellow residents’ help, converted a part of their housing society’s parking facility into a cricket net and helped her with throwdowns to ensure that her cricket practice did not suffer. 4
Bhatia made her Women’s One Day International (WODI) debut against Australia on 21 September 2021 at Harrup Park in Mackay, Australia. She batted at number three and scored 35 runs off 51 balls but India lost the match by nine wickets. 5
