Suhani Bhatnagar (June 14, 2004 – February 16, 2024) was an Indian actress renowned for her portrayal of the younger Babita Phogat in the film Dangal (2016).
Suhani was born on June 14, 2004, into a Punjabi Kayastha Hindu family to Puneet Bhatnagar and his wife, Pooja Bhatnagar, in Faridabad, Haryana, India. She also has a younger brother named Prerit Bhatnagar.
She attended Delhi Public School in Faridabad.
In 2013, she appeared in a print ad for Monte Carlo Kidswear, predating her role in ‘Dangal’.
She took a 6-month leave from school to film ‘Dangal’ and resided at Aamir Khan‘s apartment for nearly the entire duration, along with her co-stars Zaira Wasim, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
Her portrayal of young Babita Phogat garnered widespread acclaim, earning her the Star Screen Award for Best Child Actor.
After Dangal, she took a hiatus from acting to prioritize her education. Suhani said, “I have been doing events, fashion shows, and shoots but as far as films are concerned, I’m just concentrating on my studies for now. As of now, studies are my priority. I have just been promoted to class 10. There is a lot of study pressure; it is tough to carry out anything simultaneously with my studies. After I finish my studies, I will be continuing with my acting profession. You will surely see me after 2 to 3 years in films I guess.” 2
Suhani Bhatnagar tragically passed away at the age of 19 on February 16, 2024.
