Rajender Pant was the father of the Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant. He himself was a wicketkeeper-batsman and played cricket at the university level. However, due to his family’s poor financial condition, he faced challenges in obtaining proper training and couldn’t pursue cricket beyond the club level. 1
He was born on 2 July 1964 into a middle-class Kumauni Brahmin Hindu family in Uttarakhand, India. 2
He was married to Saroj Pant and the couple also has a daughter named Sakshi Pant, who is two years older than Rishabh Pant. Sakshi is engaged to Ankit Chaudhary. 3
Rajender Pant passed away at the age of 53 in his home in Roorkee on 5th April 2017 due to a cardiac arrest. 4
