Rachin Ravindra is a New Zealand International cricketer of Indian origin who plays as a batting all-rounder. He is a left-handed middle-order batter and a left-arm spin bowler. He plays for Wellington in domestic cricket.

Rachin Ravindra was born on 18 November 1999 to Ravindra Krishnamurthy and Deepa Krishnamurthy in Wellington, New Zealand. He also has an elder sister named Aisiri Ravindra. 1
He studied at Hutt International Boys’ School in Upper Hutt, New Zealand, and graduated from Wellington College in Wellington, New Zealand.
His parents named him Rachin after two former Indian batters Rahul Dravid (Ra) and Sachin Tendulkar (chin). 2
His parents, who hails from Bengaluru migrated to New Zealand in the 1990s.
Rachin and his sister Aisiri cannot speak Kannada but they do understand Kannada very well. 3
While growing up, Rachin had a small hole in the heart that filled up on its own by the time he was 4 years old. 3
His father, Ravindra Krishnamurthy worked as a software architect. He played club-level cricket for Bengaluru Club Cricket and is currently the chairman of Wellington-based Cricket Club Hutt Hawks. 3
He was part of the New Zealand squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Bangladesh but made more impact in the 2018 edition of the tournament that was held in New Zealand, where he picked up 13 wickets in 6 matches to finish 4th in the wicket-takers list. 4
He made his T20I debut on 1 September 2021 for New Zealand against Bangladesh in Mirpur, where he registered figures of 1/21. 5
Rachin made his Test debut on 25 November 2021 for New Zealand against India at Kanpur and gave an impression of his capabilities with his gritty innings of 18* off 91 balls, which was instrumental in NZ achieving a draw. 6
He made his ODI debut on 25 March 2023 for New Zealand against Sri Lanka at Auckland. Batting at No.7, he scored 49 runs off 52 balls to help New Zealand beat Sri Lanka by 198 runs. 7
Rachin Ravindra is in a relationship with New Zealand-based fashion designer Premila Morar. Premila has her own fashion label named Morar Fashions. 8 9
On 5 October 2023, During the opening match of the 2023 ODI World Cup against England in Ahmedabad, Rachin Ravindra was unexpectedly promoted to bat at No.3 and he went on to score an unbeaten 123 from 96 deliveries, hitting 11 fours and 5 sixes and his record stand of 273 runs with Devon Conway was instrumental in New Zealand thumping England by nine wickets. Ravindra became only the 4th Kiwi player to score a century in his ODI World Cup debut.10
In December 2023, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for INR 1.8 crore (USD 217,000 approx) in the player auction for the 2024 Indian Premier League. 11
