Kanika Kapoor is an Indian playback singer known for "Baby Doll" and "Chhitiyan Kalaiyan". She was born on August 21, 1978 in a punjabi khatri family to Rajeev Kapoor and Poonam Kapoor in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She also has a brother Sasha Kapoor.
Her father, Rajeev Kapoor has a business of electrical trading and her mother, Poonam Kapoor is an established exporter of Chikan work and also runs a boutique, called Kalakrutti.
She has always aspired to pursue a career in singing and at the age of 12 started to learn classical music under musician Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra from Varanasi and was accompanied by him to classical concerts around India.
Anup Jalota was her father's childhood friend and she also accompanied him in his shows. She did her B.A. and then M.A. in music from Bhatkhande Music Institute in Lucknow.
Kanika Kapoor got married to London-based businessman Raj Chandok in 1998 and moved to London. She has three children, a son, Yuvraaj Chandok and 2 daughters, Aayana Chandok & Samara Chandok.
Her relation with husband Raj Chandok started growing sour after she found him cheating on her. Both separated in 2010 and finally got divorced in 2012.
After the divorce, she relocated to Mumbai along with her children to pursue a career in singing but her children were not able to adjust to the Indian environment so she moved back to the London.
Harmeet Singh (from the Meet Brothers duo) and Kanika's brother, Sasha Kapoor were classmates at Gwalior's Scindia School. This is how she got to know Meet Brothers.
Her first song Jugni Ji (2012), featuring Dr. Zeus was a success.
In 2014, she sung "Baby Doll" for the film Ragini MMS 2. The song topped the music charts and Kanika won several awards for this song, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer.
In 2016, she became the brand ambassador of Swiss Watch manufacturer 88 Rue du Rhone.
She was tested positive for COVID-19 during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic on 20 March 2020. She returned to India from London on 15 March, whereupon she attended a party in Lucknow. A complaint was lodged against her for negligence.
She also has her own fashion brand "Kanika Kapoor: House of Chikankari".
Kanika Kapoor was in a relationship with Shobhaa De's son Aditya Kilachand during 2017-18.
Kanika Kapoor got married for the second time to NRI businessman Gautam Hathiramani on May 20, 2022.
