Junaid Khan (born June 2, 1993) is an Indian actor and the son of renowned Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Datta. He has a younger sister, Ira Khan, and a younger half-brother, Azad Rao Khan, from his father’s second marriage to Kiran Rao.
He completed his schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai and later graduated from HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. Subsequently, he went to Los Angeles to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Junaid’s parents, Aamir Khan and Reena Datta, filed for divorce on December 9, 2002. After the divorce, Aamir married Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005. However, his second marriage also ended in divorce, with the couple announcing their separation via a joint statement on July 3, 2021.
On May 1, 2012, Junaid organized a fund-raiser celebrity Twenty20 cricket match between Bollywood stars and physically-challenged individuals at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The Bollywood team included Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, Rani Mukerji, Isha Koppikar, Prateik Babbar, Atul Kulkarni, Dilip Joshi, and Disha Vakani. Aamir Khan skipped the special cricket match due to some urgent work. “I had asked dad when he would be free for this match and he gave me the date May 1. But he got some work and hence could not make it here… it’s ok”, Junaid told. 1
Junaid is in a relationship with Sonam Varma, whom he met at HR College.
He appeared as Bill Dhaliwal in an episode of the Canadian TV series Masterminds in 2003 and was part of the lighting team on the TV series LEGO Chima in 2013. 2
Junaid worked as an assistant to Rajkumar Hirani on Aamir’s film PK in 2014 and assisted Rahoul Daswani on the short film To Remember Me By in 2019. 2
In 2022, Aamir revealed that he wanted Junaid to play the titular role in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), but producer Aditya Chopra and script-writer Atul Kulkarni objected, believing the film needed a star. Aamir said, “Junaid, became Laal as he played him. Some actors are skillful, they know their art and perform really well. While the others become the characters they play. Junaid became one. My confidence was shaken after watching his performance, while I was confident for him. I don’t have that innocence anymore and he did that naturally.” “However, Aditya Chopra and Atul Kulkarni, the writer of the movie had objected. They wanted me to play the character. According to them, The story of Forrest Gump isn’t that solid. It’s an episodic movie which requires a star. A new actor can’t pull this off.”, he added. 3
Junaid made his acting debut in Netflix’s 2024 historical drama film “Maharaja”, inspired by the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari Wagh. 4
Junaid Khan will star opposite Khushi Kapoor in the romantic comedy film “Love Today”, directed by Advait Chandan. Love Today is the remake of the 2022 Tamil hit film of the same name. 5
He bears an uncanny resemblance to Hollywood actor Henry Cavill, known for playing Superman. 6
Junaid will be seen opposite Sai Pallavi in the upcoming film titled “Ek Din”. 7 |
