Hasin Jahan came into the spotlight on March 6, 2018, when she shared several screenshots of Shami’s alleged WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger chats with multiple women on her Facebook wall. She asserted that Shami is a womanizer involved in multiple extra-marital affairs. Additionally, she accused Shami and other family members of attempting to kill her. On March 8, 2018, she filed a complaint at the Jadavpur police station, citing charges of domestic violence, infidelity, attempted murder, and marital rape against Shami. In April 2019, Hasin Jahan was arrested for a breach of peace at Shami’s native village in Amroha. This occurred after she allegedly forcibly entered Shami’s house in Sahaspur Ali Nagar village and engaged in a confrontation with his family members. Her counsel, Mriganka Mistry, justified the alimony amount by informing the court that Shami earned over Rs. 7 crore in the financial year 2020-21. In response, Shami’s counsel, Selim Rahman, argued that Hasin Jahan earns a decent income through her career as a professional model, making such a high alimony amount unjustified. On January 23, 2023, a Kolkata court ordered Mohammed Shami to pay a monthly alimony of Rs. 1,30,000 to Hasin Jahan. Initially, it was Jahan’s former domestic help who began making these calls, and later, a man claiming to be the son of Jahan’s former domestic help continued making threats. When asked to share her thoughts on Mohammed Shami’s stellar performance in the 2023 Cricket World Cup, she claimed to have no knowledge about cricket and declined to applaud Shami’s achievements. She stated, “Main cricket dekhti nahi hu, isliye cricketers ki bhi fan nahi hu. Or kitne wicket liye, kya liye, ye sab mere samajh ke bahar hai. Mai kuchh janti bhi nahi hu (I don’t watch cricket, so I’m not a fan of cricketers either. How many wickets, for what, all of that is beyond my understanding.
