Avalok Langer is an Indian author, journalist and filmmaker known for being the brother of famous sports anchor Mayanti Langer. He was born on 19 November 1987 into a military family to Lt. Gen. (Retd) Sanjiv Langer and Preminda Langer, an award winning teacher in New Delhi, India.
He completed his schooling from The Shri Ram School in New Delhi and later did Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from the prestigious Hindu College, University of Delhi.
After completing his studies, he joined NDTV as an Assistant Producer in July 2007 and worked there till November 2009. He anchored and produced many food shows at NDTV.
He worked at Tehelka Magazine as a Correspondent from October 2010 to March 2014.
He joined ScoopWhoop Media Pvt. Ltd. as a Creative Director Video (Non Fiction) in August 2015 and worked there for more than 6 years.
Avalok Langer got married to Yahav Ben Shitrit, an Israeli on 21 February 2014. ¹
He has also worked on a number of documentaries for Discovery Channel and National Geographic Channel, some of which went on to be nominated and even won at the Indian and Asian Television Awards.
Avalok wrote his first book, 'In Pursuit of Conflict', a journalist's diary on the conflict and struggle of the Northeast region of India. The book was published by Westland in 2018. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on 16 March 2018 launched the book at Oxford Book Stores in New Delhi. ²
