Sanjay Kapoor is an indian actor and film producer. He is known for acting in Raja (1995), Sirf Tum (1999) & Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003). He was born on October 17, 1965 in Chembur, Mumbai, Maharashtra to film producer Surinder Kapoor and Nirmal Kapoor. He has 2 elder brothers Anil Kapoor & Boney Kapoor and an elder sister Reena Kapoor Marwah.
Sanjay Kapoor got married to Maheep Sandhu on December 9, 1998. They have a daughter Shanaya Kapoor and a son Jahaan Kapoor.
Raj Kapoor's son Rajiv Kapoor was his childhood friend.
After passing his 10th class exams, he wanted to study abroad but his father suffered heavy losses after one of his films did not do well at the box-office. So Sanjay didn't got the chance to study abroad.
He made his acting debut with Prem (1995) opposite actress Tabu. The film was in production since 1989 and it released in 1995 after too much delay. The film was a box-office disaster.
His next movie Raja (1995) opposite Madhuri Dixit was a box-office success.
Ashok Thakeria & Inder Kumar wanted to launch Sanjay Kapoor with "Dil" but Boney Kapoor declined the offer as he wanted to launch Sanjay with "Prem". So they decided to sign Aamir Khan for the film.
He is often confused with Karishma Kapoor's ex-husband Sanjay Kapur.
Ram Gopal Varma purchased the remake rights of Sethu (Tere Naam) & wanted to cast Sanjay Kapoor in it. Boney Kapoor & Sunil Manchanda offered Ram Gopal Varma a lot of money to hand over the remake rights to them because they were getting a good price from the distributors for the film. Ram Gopal handed over the rights to them. Then they decided to cast Salman Khan in the movie instead of Sanjay Kapoor. Irony was that Boney Kapoor is Sanjay Kapoor's brother.
