| Falaq Naaz and her sister Shafaq Naaz are not in talking terms because in 2016 Shafaq left the home and put allegations against their mother of splurging away her money. In an interview with The Times of India in May 2018, Falaq said, “For the past two years, I haven’t heard anything from Shafaq. We are not in contact and I would request people to stop asking me about Shafaq or what she is up to these days. Please stop bothering me with queries related to her,“ “Under the influence of someone from our family, she (Shafaq) fought with my mother and left us without thinking about the consequences. Though she never fought with me, I am not able to fathom the fact that she put such serious allegations on our mother. She, being a single mother, has sacrificed a lot for us. I have seen my mother do so much for us and can’t leave her like this. I can’t see my mom suffer every day and therefore, have broken ties with her. While leaving us, she herself said that we are dead for her.“ When asked if she ever tried to mend things between them. Falaq said, “I tried, but she never responded. We don’t have her contact number, so I tried to contact her through mutual friends, but the result was not positive. I don’t want our personal life to be discussed in the public domain, but I am left with no other option than declaring that we have nothing to do with her now.” 1 | |

| The Naaz sisters reunited after Sheezan was arrested and released a joint statement to the media. In the statement, Shafaq and Falaq wrote, “As much as everyone is eager to know the ‘other side of the story’, we are equally curious to know, but for time being we’d like for you to allow us privacy in this grave situation. Both families are victims at this point. Let the right time come and we will address the matter for sure. But this is not the right time. A death is a painful situation everyone needs to honour the privacy of the affected Families and give them the space to mourn and carry on with the funeral first. It is such an unfortunate state that we lost a precious soul and another is arrested.“ They further added, “Accusations have been leveled against Sheezan and the police are investigating the case. Let police take the call. I am confident that an innocent guy has been framed without an application of mind. This situation has been overwhelming for the family members and we’d like to take this time to co-operate with the police and let the truth come out. We have complete faith in the Indian judiciary system and hope the truth shall triumph. Also, please do not take our silence for weakness; We will speak soon when the time is right. But for now, allow and respect our privacy.” 3  | |
