Jhulan Goswami is an Indian woman cricketer who plays as a right-arm medium fast bowler and right-handed batter. She was the captain of indian women cricket team from 2008 to 2011 & led Indian team in 25 WODIs.
Jhulan is considered as one of the greatest women fast bowlers of all time who at the peak of her career bowled consistently at the speed of around 120kph.
She was born on November 25, 1982 in a middle-class family to Nishit Goswami and Jharna Goswami in Chakdaha town in Nadia district of West Bengal. She also has a brother named Kunal Goswami.
She used to play Cricket, Badminton and Volleyball with equal enthusiasm. But at the age of 15, she decided to pursue career in cricket but it was not easy for a girl from a middle-class family. Her family lived on the outskirts of Kolkata and she had to travel long hours to make it to the practice ground.
Jhulan made her international debut on 6th January 2002 at the age of 19 in a WODI match match against England in Chennai. She helped Indian team in defeating the England team by taking 2 wickets and giving away only 15 runs in her 7 overs.
She made her Test debut on 14 January 2002 against England in Lucknow.
She won the ICC Women's Player of the Year award in 2007.

Jhulan took over the captaincy from Mithali Raj in 2008 and captained the indian women cricket team till 2011.
In 2010, she was honoured with the Arjuna Award and became the second Indian women cricketer to receive the prestigious Padma Shri after Diana Edulji in 2012.

In 2015, Jhulan Goswami was among the four women cricketers who were were awarded the Grade A contracts carrying a retainer of Rs 15 lakh by BCCI for the first time. Other three women cricketers were Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Thirush Kamini. 11)

In August 2018, she announced her retirement from WT20Is.
Jhulan Goswami is all set to retire from the international cricket at Lord's during India's third and final ODI against England on September 24, 2022. She is a veteran of six Women's ODI World Cups and has represented India in 12 Tests, 68 T20Is and 202 ODIs.
Goswami is the highest wicket taker in Women's One Day International cricket with 253 wickets.
The teaser of the biopic on the life of Jhulan Goswami titled "Chakda Xpress" was released on January 6, 2022. The film starring Anushka Sharma and directed by Prosit Roy will be premiered on Netflix. Its release date has not yet been announced.
Actress Mumtaz Sorcar, the daughter of the famous magician PC Sorcar Junior and Joysri Sorcar portrayed the role of the character based on Jhulan Goswami in Shabaash Mithu (2022), a biopic on Mithali Raj.
